MISSION
The Neighborhood Leadership Development Program (NLDP) uniquely develops the diverse leadership abilities of engaged Clevelanders who are committed to creating a city and region which works for everyone.

VISION
The vision of the Neighborhood Leadership Development Program is to foster the growth of a new vanguard of engaged neighborhood leaders in the City of Cleveland who are prepared and committed to creating progressive change in a variety of areas throughout Cleveland and the region.

PRINCIPLES
There are four key guiding principles for the program:
  • NLDP serves as a mechanism to channel emerging and growing leaders to new opportunities for leadership;
  • NLDP serves to stimulate and fertilize the efforts of emerging and growing leaders to organize around positive and common issues and work in a collaborative manner;
  • NLDP is a mechanism for people who want to enhance and apply their leadership abilities to make change; and
  • NLDP serves to create an inclusive network of leaders who are committed to acting upon issues of significant importance to the community’s future.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
Three key objectives have been defined to achieve these goals and they include:

Connecting with the existing network of actively engaged neighborhood leaders (formal or informal) who are passionate about genuinely wanting to make positive change in Cleveland;

Growing the “potentiality” of emerging leaders over time by expanding their knowledge base though education, personal development through coaching and ongoing interaction with their peers and other leaders; and

Supporting NLDP graduates through post-graduate activities as they apply their learning and help them grow their leadership network so they become successful change agents on behalf of city residents.
