Program Manager, Shandra Koler has been active in the animal welfare community for twelve years. She has a Bachelor of Science degree from Baldwin Wallace College and a Master of Public Administration degree from Cleveland State University. Ms. Koler has worked for the City of Cleveland, Division of Animal Control since 1999, focusing her efforts on organizational development and public relations. In 2000, she initiated and has appeared weekly on a live adoption and education segment on NBC-TV affiliate, WKYC. She has been a working board member for a local nonprofit organization for four years as well as a consultant for a national organization. She has been recognized for her contribution to humane work by receiving several awards. In 2001, she received the Mayor of Cleveland Outstanding Community Member Recognition Award. In 2002, Western Reserve Kennel Club awarded her Outstanding Community Member and the Sanctuary for Senior Dogs gave her the 2005 Compassion Award.
Lead Coach, Dr. Denise M. Douglas is the Associate Dean at the School of Graduate Studies and Office of Postdoctoral Affairs at Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Douglas previously served as Director of Career Planning and Student Life at the Weatherhead School of Management, where she was responsible for the teaching of management and career skills to MBA students, curriculum planning, strategic planning, career counseling and coaching, student retention and student orientation programming. She is certified in the Emotional and Social Competency Inventory. Prior to her arrival at Case in 2000, Dr. Douglas served as Director of Internship Programs at George Mason University's School of Information Technology and Engineering in Fairfax, Va. In 2005 Dr. Douglas was selected to attend the prestigious Summer Institute for Women in Higher Education, a month long intensive leadership institute at Bryn Mawr College. Also in 2005 she was honored with induction into Kaleidoscope Magazine’s 40-40 Club. In March 2007, under the direction of Dr. Douglas, Case’s Office of Postdoctoral Affairs received a Postdoc Leadership Mentoring Project grant from the National Postdoctoral Association and the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. Dr. Douglas was also honored in 2007 with the YWCA Woman of Professional Excellence Award. Dr. Douglas holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Minnesota. She received her B.A. in English Literature from George Mason University.
Coach, Laura Junglas has worked in the nonprofit sector for over 20 years. She started her career working for a community development corporation (CDC) as part of a college internship program, and has since worked for a variety of for-profit and nonprofit organizations that allowed her to build a skill base centered on nonprofit management, operations and finance. Ms. Junglas has experience in working with a wide range of organizations and cultures, both locally and on a national basis. Since relocating to the Cleveland area, Ms. Junglas has spent substantial time working with organizations based in the neighborhoods of Cleveland. She has also provided coaching services to Executives and Program staff. These services have included leadership development, behavior change and problem solving coaching. Ms. Junglas holds a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts Management and French from Virginia Wesleyan College and a Master’s in Organization Development from the Weatherhead School at Case Western Reserve University. In addition, she has served in leadership roles as a board and committee member for several nonprofit organizations, including a farmers market, hostel and homeless shelter. Since 2000, Ms. Junglas has been an independent consultant providing services in the areas of interim management, coaching, organizational development and loan fund portfolio management.
Coach, Nurete Brenner is a Ph.D. candidate in Organizational Behavior with the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University. Ms. Brenner is a Teaching Assistant as well as a Co-Facilitator/Coach for the MBA program at CWRU. She holds a B.A. in English Literature and Middle East History from Bar Ilan University in Ramat Gan, Israel, M.A. in English Literature from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel, and an MBA from the University of Derby in Tel Aviv, Israel. Ms. Brenner has worked with over eighty MBA students and managers exploring their learning styles, personal vision and values as well as establishing action plans and personal missions. Ms. Brenner is a Freelance Journalist for the Cleveland Jewish News.
Coach, Mindy Kannard is Director of Business Development for Executive Education at the Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University. This involves serving as liaison to the external business community, building partnerships that provide access to the resources available at the Weatherhead School. Prior to this role, she directed Career Services, cultivating employer relationships and counseling students on job search strategy. Mindy has significant experience teaching and counseling in the area of career development. Prior to joining Case, she was employed at The Ohio State University in a variety of roles, including Director of the Business Internship Program, Distance Learning Consultant, and Training and Development Coordinator for the OSU Medical Center. Mindy has a certificate in Developing Leadership through Emotional Intelligence and also serves as a master coach for clients of the Weatherhead School. She has a number of certifications in various career development tools including the Myers Briggs Type Indicator. Mindy has a master’s degree in education from Bowling Green State University and an undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Oswego in Psychology and Public Justice. Mindy has lived in Ohio for over 25 years, but is originally from Rochester, NY. She currently lives with her family in Shaker Heights.
Administrative Assistant, Hillary Sedlacek received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Cleveland State University in 2007. While attending Cleveland State University, she participated in the Student Leadership Academy and studied leadership theory. She has taken an active role in seminars and volunteer activities.
